China learns a lesson from Japan in pornography

Published by tuannguyen at 8:06 pm under Opinion Edit This

Japan has been rising its power as the world domination on technology, and also productions in porn contents. It hits hard on Japanese culture.

As porn is widely popular in Japan, it leads to high rate of divorce giving way to personal crisis and increase of crime. The government of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is out of the game. It has no right to intervene to this profitable but harmful industry. Since culture is the foundation of a civilization, the breakdown of good traditions may lead to chaos of a nation.

China takes it shrewdly. From the begin of 2009, the Communist party is launching a Internet porn crusade aiming to purify online content. Again, this is what I like about the Communist. Although the leaders may have the access to stuff that are banned wisely, but for the whole society, citizens don’t have to right to own and use harmful items. The party also has the power to halt any activity that can damages the society and the cultural traditions.

Without pornography, personal stability and family structure can be put in order preventing the rise of crime rate and psychological abandon on children.

I give my applause for the Communist efforts so that one they we have to practice this action from China.

That’s ridiculous. Porn is nothing but pictures and videos of naked people. To say that it’s responsible for the downfall of an entire culture is beyond dramatic. It’s stupid.

If divorce rates are increasing in the East, it only means that loveless, monogamous marriages based solely on financial interest are failing. We have a steady porn industry here in the US with a divorce rate over 50%, but we’re still miles away from total anarchy.

By your arguments, I can say that money is just a piece of paper or cigarettes are just rolls of chemical. In fact, it do have impact on human lives, and so does porn. I’ve known many people, including my friends and also stories on the newspaper, struggle with families because of watching porn too much. My roommate, who was a church minister, has been starting new families 3 times, because he hasn’t found a person that met his sexual level as he saw on the Internet.

    It is addictive, man.

Then, talking about the downfall of a society base on divorce and sexual freedom is a whole huge topic. First of all, looking at the destiny of a nation is not basing on what happen right now, but we have to look back at history of many similar civilizations to understand. The crisis of culture will lead to the collapse of a society.

Basically, break down of family -> divorce + abandon on children -> crime + lower motivation in work -> worse economy + chaos -> loosing power -> poverty

I can’t fully explain to you by few lines here, so I suggest that you should read the book Collapse
of Jared Diamond, and go somewhere to seek for the reasons of the fall of Rome. You will understand what I mean.

Of course porn can be addictive. Anyone can really become addicted to anything, and compared to hard drugs and violent behaviors, isn’t pornaholism (patent pending on that word, by the way) a minor detriment to society? We’re not going to be giving up on relationships with real people just because we can see prettier ones on the computer; jacking off is nice now and then, but it’s nothing compared to the real thing.

But we humans were never meant to spend our entire lives with a single person. Our innate desire to spread our genes across the world prevents us from ever feeling completely comfortable in a monogamous relationship. Pornography fulfills a vital role then, allowing us to experience our fantasies in a safe environment, without judgment, without consequences. I guarantee you, as soon as you eliminate porn and don’t allow people to release their pent up sexual energy, you’ll see a spike in the number of rapes.

Uhm…money is just paper and ciggies are just rolls of chemicals. Everything in moderation, yes? Anywho, someone who wants to watch porn is far less detrimental to society than someone (or political party) who wants to control every thought and action of others.

Good point, man! I’m glad you mention about raping. But, I’m sure that not many people dare to go to prison just for indulging their sex needs.

And somehow, I come up with education as a related part to this topic. If you take a look at the Western school and Eastern one, you see the difference. European and American kids come to school aiming to discover genders at the teen age; while Asian kids mainly love to study. I was going to school in Vietnam and I know what they look for in school. There relationship was to getting to know their partner rather than sexual behaviors. However, backing to education, it is a big issues. Internet porn has been misleading kids’ purpose of life. They become more like to be celebrities rather than someone healthy for the society. While Eastern people think differently. They dream to build their nations and bring pride to their family by achieving high status in the society. That is how pornography indirectly affect the economy and a civilization.

to eclecticbird: ooh, that is why the US is missing the “melting pot,” man. You don’t wanna see the future of this nation turn out to be like India disintegration, man. India was devided into: Parkistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and almost Kashmir; you know why? Because there is no unification in the believes of its ethnic groups. Hindu, Muslim and other minority groups under the Democracy system has the right to speak and fight for what they believe; therefore, it all turn out to be a mess and disintegration. I believe, you don’t want America to be like so. Remember, this nation is very young to experience that effect. Only 300 years doesn’t speak of anything. Asian, Hispanic, Black and White will have the clash turning out to be civil war. They have the right to speak and to fight, man.

    K. First, I’m a chick so stop saying man. Second, I have no idea what the hell you are trying to say.

Oh, I’m just answering this statement of yours: “Anywho, someone who wants to watch porn is far less detrimental to society than someone (or political party) who wants to control every thought and action of others.”

Yeah, I’m having some trouble with your English too. But I’ll try to decipher what I can.

Let’s talk about education. From what I know, strict school systems (in the East and the UK) generally lead to higher levels of anxiety among students because of the stress of social conformity and “family honor.” And those kids in Vietnam may be staring intently at their test packet, but what they’re thinking of is the chick next to them with the knockout knockers. As I said before, this pent up sexual energy will manifest itself in dangerous ways.

And let me jump into your whole disintegration argument there. The world needs borders. Lots of them. Everyone is different and no two people will ever completely agree on how a government should work. They need choices, but more importantly they need a consensus of how their government is set up. Ethnic groups are only a small part of the American division you’re seeing now.

Porn is harmful as many of the people involved in the movies are children, animals an women sold into slavery. What happened in the good old days where men fantasized without porn? I think men should be taught discipline also like meditation and moral virtue then taking away the porn will be easier. You have to replace one thing with another..so if they take a way the porn they can re invent other aspects of Chinese culture that can help make men strong in self control and discipline like martial arts for example. Well done CCP.
